Vipers SC has sacked Beto Bianchi as head coach after 58 days in charge at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Vipers SC has sacked Beto Bianchi as head coach after 58 days in charge at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The Brazilian-Spaniard succeeded Roberto Oliveira on January 10, but a 1-0 defeat by Simba SC in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

In a short statement on the club’s website, Vipers said; Vipers Sports Club announces that the contract of head Coach Beto Bianchi has been terminated with immediate effect.”

“The club would like to thank Bianchi for his tireless efforts during his time at the club and wish him success in his future endeavours.”

That defeat at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania was Vipers’ third since Bianchi took over, with factions within the club reportedly describing the team’s form as a disaster, while others feared how the club’s season could unfold.

Just this week, Bianchi admitted that there was still ‘a lot of learning he has to do around his squad’, but insisted that he was excited by the desire to adopt shown by his players since his arrival.

He also maintained that not about to give up on his side and that he was afraid of nothing and fully understood the nature of football.

Hammered 5-0 by Raja Casablanca on his continental debut, Vipers has lost three games of the seven games he has been in charge.

Vipers had also gone 630 minutes – precisely seven games – minus finding the back of the net under Bianchi, the club’s longest run in history, also their longest winless run since March 2013.

Bianchi oversaw unconvincing victories over Third division sides Bujumbura FC and Jinja North United in the Stanbic Uganda Cup that came via penalties.

A goalless draw against Wakiso Giants in the only league game he managed ended with club fans whistling to show a bit of their dissatisfaction.

The future of his assistant Roberto Martinez is still unclear, but first-team coach Richard Wasswa is expected to remain in charge of the club starting with Tuesday’s trip to Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Cup.

Pulse Sports understands that internal discussions had been held over the possibility of bringing back former coach Abdallah Mubiru, but there has been no contact since Bianchi was hired.

There is no definitive decision taken at the moment, but there is little optimism that a deal can be done with Mubiru who is currently at Tanzanian side Mbeya City.
