After a fortnight of the nomination process, the Awarding ceremony will once again be staged at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Saturday, June 29.
The Pilsner/StarTimes Uganda Premier League Awards for the 2023/24 season have been launched.
At the launching ceremony held at Kati Kati Restaurant, in Lugogo on Thursday morning, fourteen categories were announced.
Unlike before, the general public will directly be involved in the nomination process via the different StarTimes Uganda Premier League’s social media platforms.
Of the 14 categories, the winners of the three categories are already known basing on the statistics of 2023/24 season and these are; the goalkeeper of the season, top soccer, and the king of assists.
KCCA FC’s Muhammad Shaban was the top scorer with 17 goals, Tom Ikara of BUL FC managed the most clean sheets, 12, while Maroons FC’s midfielder Abraham Tusubira had the most assists, 10.
As usual, the Platinum Award will be decided by the board and it goes to a selected individual who has been supportive to the game of football.
The public will nominate five players in seven different categories including the Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, Defender of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, Coach of Season, Best Goal of the Season, and the Best XI of the Season.
It is important to note that for the Young Player of the Season category, players under the age of 21 will be considered.
Public nominations will run from June 12 to 21 and thereafter a selected panel of Uganda Premier League experts will take it on from there selecting the final three nominees from which the eventual winner from each category will emerge.
It is also worth noting that the public votes will carry 40% whilst the selected UPL panel will have the 60% in determining the outcomes.
After a fortnight of the nomination process, the Awarding ceremony will once again be staged at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Saturday, June 29.
