Kigongo joined URA FC in 2016 from Maroons FC and has been one of the longest-serving players in the current team.

URA FC have parted ways with utility player Ronald Kigongo after seven years of diligent service.

The club confirmed the departure of the long-serving player following the end of his employment contract.

“We would like to thank Kigongo for the seven years of diligent service and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” the club communicated on their website Wednesday afternoon.

Kigongo joined URA FC in 2016 from Maroons FC and has been one of the longest-serving players in the current team.

In 2020, he renewed his stay at the club for three years.

But following the end of the 2022/23 season, it was decided by the club management that his contract won’t be renewed after the end of June 2023.

Kigongo’s contract will officially expire at the end of this month, and the club has no intentions of extending it.

In the just-concluded season, Kigongo is remembered for coming off the bench and scoring the winning goal in the first-round clash with Arua Hill SC at Nakisunga Saza Ground.

Kigongo’s departure now leaves Said Kyeyune as the club’s longest-serving player.

URA FC will be embarking on preparations for the next season with a number of signings and departures expected.

URA ended the previous Startimes Uganda Premier League season in fifth place.
