Mudoola is currently the Kobs’ Director of Rugby and according to the statement, he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The Uganda Rugby Union has suspended former Kobs and Rugby Cranes player Timothy Mudoola for four weeks.

The Rugby Union communicated the development on Tuesday evening, three days after Stanbic Black Pirates defeated Kobs to lift the Nile Special League title.

“Mr. Mudoola is banned from rugby games as player or coach for games scheduled for 13th May, 27th May, 1st July and 8th July 2023,” the communication from the Union read in part.

Whereas the URU Disciplinary Committee did not categorically state Mudoola’s case in the statement, it revealed that the charges were for crimes committed in the highly-charged clash between Kobs and Heathens at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds on 1st April 2023.

The statement added: “Mr. Mudoola was charged with misconduct under Regulation 18 and contravention of the World Rugby Code of Conduct.”

In the game that was marred by controversy and later led to the suspension of the referee in charge, Ronald Wutimber, Mudoola walked onto the field of play to remove Heathens’ Michael Wokorach, who was not part of the playing staff but acting as a water boy on the day.

That was after Wutimber awarded Heathens a penalty with the last play of the game and the score tied at 12-12.

The game ended in chaos as Kobs players refused to retreat to allow Heathens take the penalty.

Wutimber then awarded a penalty try to Heathens with no legal backing and was eventually suspended by URU.

According to the statement, Mudoola, who is currently the Kobs’ Director of Rugby, pleaded guilty to the charges.
