Jacob Kiplimo is embracing the full marathon after a record-breaking debut in London and is preparing for his next race with hopes of making a name for Uganda.

World half-marathon record holder Jacob Kiplimo is already loving the full marathon and is ready to tackle his next assignment.

The Ugandan made his full marathon debut at the London Marathon, clocking a national record time of 2:03:37 to settle for an impressive second-place finish behind winner Sabastian Sawe.

Jacob Kiplimo was off to a great start to his season as he shattered the half-marathon world record at the Barcelona Half Marathon, clocking 56:42 for the win.

Will Jacob Kiplimo run his second marathon soon?

The two-time Commonwealth Games champion revealed that he is looking forward to running his second 42km race.

However, it might not be soon since he has to go back to the drawing board and rest before having a conversation with his coach and management, before deciding where he will be competing next.

“Yeah, of course, now that I have confirmed, I’m going to prepare well. First of all, I’m going to sit with my management, then rest and then after, I will think about it,” Jacob Kiplimo revealed.

The two-time world cross-country champion added that he had a great experience running in the streets of London.

He insisted that he had only gone to enjoy his debut and was not looking for any specific times, but a podium finish would be enough for him.

“The weather conditions were okay for me…there were no surprises for me since I was expecting to be on the podium, and I made it, I’m so happy,” Jacob Kiplimo said.

Kiplimo has enjoyed a great running career, from the track to cross country and now to the roads, where he intends to make an impact in the running world and place Uganda on the world map.

The Ugandan will perhaps look to make the Ugandan team to the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, and this time around, not run either the 5000m or 10,000m but the full marathon.

He has already shown his potential in the full marathon and will be a force to reckon with in the near future when it comes to the distance.
