Uganda's long-distance star Jacob Kiplimo has been ruled out of the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
With only a week to the championships due 19-27 August, Uganda will be without its distinguished star.
According to Uganda Athletics Federation, Kiplimo sustained the injury on August 1st while in training at the high-altitude, Kapchorwa in Eastern Uganda. Team Uganda, now reduced to 20 athletes, are polishing up their training sessions in Kapchorwa.

He is reportedly expected to regain fitness in three weeks, ruling him out of the Worlds.

Kiplimo had been confirmed for the 10,000m and 5,000m distance at the 2023 World Athletics Championships running alongside Joshua Cheptegei.
Before the injury, Kiplimo shocked fans with a sixth place in Monaco in his last race in July.
