WORLD X-COUNTRY USA beats Uganda to Bronze in women junior race

Kenya and Ethiopia went on to dominate the race as expected, sweeping the top nine positions.

The United States of America picked up their first ever team bronze at the 2023 World Cross Country Championship in Bathurst, Australia.

The junior women’s race was dominated by the Kenyans and Ethiopians who took gold and silver respectively.

Uganda represented by Peace Chebet, Felister Chekwemoi, Charity Cherop, Risper Cherop, and Bentalin Yeko finish fourth.

Ethiopia went 1-2 to get the team title with 15 points, Senayet Getachew and Medina Eisa taking gold and silver ahead of Kenya’s Pamela Gosgei who took individual bronze.

Yeko was the best placed Ugandan, finishing 14 overall, with compatiots Charity Cherop and Chekwemoi following her in 15th and 16th.

Chebet finished the race a distant 30th despite leading the pack over the first lap. Risper Cherop came 37th.
