In a letter dated 23rd August to the Uganda Olympic Committee, the Uganda Boxing Federation president protested UOC’s inclusion of boxers Shadir Musa Bwogi and David Ssemujju, who he says didn’t go through the proper selection criteria to make the Bombers qualifiers team.

All is not well with Uganda boxing president Moses Muhangi and the Uganda Olympic Committee as the two clash over the team selection of the Bombers squad.

“You went ahead and registered boxers like Shadir Musa Bwogi and Mr David Ssemujju, whose names were never part of the long list we provided,” reads part of the lengthy letter.

“I also would like to bring to your attention that I, as MUHANGI MOSES, will be engaged in other pressing issues and won’t be able to travel with the team as team manager.

“I, therefore, surrender my responsibility as team manager to Mr Barigo Simon, our General Secretary, to manage the team since he is already registered as part of the delegation,” the letter added.

Shadir Musa Bwogi and David Ssemujju competed at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

After that, they ventured into professional boxing after falling out with UBF over “unfair” boxing Champions League contracts in 2021.

Bwogi has since gone on to have five professional bouts, winning all of them, while David Ssemujju has gone on to have four bouts and won them all, too.

The Bombers are expected to compete at the upcoming continental Olympic qualifier between 9th – 15th September in Dakar, Senegal.
