The duo, who are expected to debut for the Cricket Cranes at the Continent Cup T-20 in Nairobi, were summoned as replacements for the injured Juma Miyagi and Ronald Lutaaya, who missed out due to exams.
The Uganda Cricket Cranes head coach Laurence Mahatlane has backed youngsters Robinson Obuya and Siraje Nsubuga to perform with the senior national cricket squad.
The duo, who are expected to debut for the Cricket Cranes at the Continent Cup T-20 in Nairobi, were summoned as replacements for the injured Juma Miyagi and Ronald Lutaaya, who missed out due to exams.
"It's exciting when players are given opportunities; Robinson and Siraje deserve it because they have been outstanding over the past months," Mahatlane said.
"It's tough to lose players to injuries, but it's also always key to keep building depth; I have always said we need to be able to have at least three players per number."
"Now Juma Miyagi, Cosmas Kyewuta, Ronak Patel, Ronald Lutaaya and Joshua Baguma are all out with injuries and personal reasons," he added.
Robinson Obuya lit up the Rwanda T-20 tournament, scoring the most runs, making the most sixes and was the best fielder; also, for Mahatlane's side, Dinesh Nakrani makes a return to the squad.
The 14-man Cricket Cranes squad will join five other nations in Tanzania, Nigeria, Botswana, Uganda, and Rwanda and hosts Kenya for the inaugural Continent Cup T-20 Africa, which will run from 9th – 20th June.
The Cricket Cranes last played a T-20 tournament in December 2022 when they won the Tri-Nation T-20 tournament beating Tanzania by seven runs.
With the team preparing for the upcoming T-20 World Cup qualifiers in November, many young players will be expected to gain experience in due course to help the section have enough depth and understanding during the qualifiers.
