Most importantly, Nabi Nasreddine's charges have booked a quarter-final slot in the CAF Confederations Cup for the very first time in the club's history.

Uganda Cranes assistant captain Khalid Aucho could not have asked for a better motivating factor ahead of the international break than Yanga's 2-0 home win over US Monastir on a cold Sunday evening at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.

The win takes Young Africans top of the log, level with US Monastir on 10 points but with a better goal difference.

Most importantly, Nabi Nasreddine's charges have booked a quarter-final slot in the CAF Confederations Cup for the very first time in the club's history.

Forwards Kenneth Musonda and Fiston Kalala Mayele scored in either half to earn maximum points for 'Teamu ya Wanainchi.'

Zambian international Musonda gave the home side the lead in the 33rd minute heading home Jesus Moloko's excellent cross from the left after some excellent build-up play that involved Khalid Aucho.

Young Africans took the lead to the break although the Benjamin Mkapa stadium's wet surface after a heavy downpour wasn't helping matters.

Both sides still had to play through the harsh wet surface conditions after the break, but the home side seemed in control.

Musonda was at it again, with a blistering run on the left before he found an unmarked Mayele.

The in-form forward then dribbled past one defender before slotting home in the 59th minute at the far post to make it 2-0.

Aucho featured for 90 minutes but was booked in the first period and will miss Yanga's last group game away to TP Mazembe due to suspension.

'Daktari wa mpira' will now fly to Cairo, where he is expected to link up with the Uganda Cranes ahead of their AFCON qualifier double header against Tanzania.
