With both Tanzania and Uganda stuck at the bottom of the table with only one point and group favourites Algeria facing Guinea twice, the stakes are high.

The Tanzanian government has promised at least shs.800 million to the Taifa Stars if they qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The country’s Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana revealed the news just four days before the much-anticipated Group F Afcon qualifier double-header between the Tanzanians and Uganda Cranes.

Uganda will host the day three fixture on Friday 24th March at the Suez Canal Stadium in Egypt for a Group F qualifier before both travel to Tanzania for the day four fixture four days later.

“The government will provide an amount of [Tshs] 500 million shillings if the Taifa Stars team qualifies for the AFCON 2023 finals,” the minister revealed before sending a rallying call to the Taifa Stars fanatics:

“We are asking Tanzanians to show up in large numbers on the field to support Taifa Stars.”
