Senegal returns to the Africa Cup of Nations for the fifth successive time and will be making their 18th appearance in Ivory Costa early next year.

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane played a crucial role as Senegal kept their 100 percent record to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Bayern Munich striker set up Boulaye Dia for the lone winner over Mozambique at the Zimpeto Stadium in Maputo to seal their berth with two games to spare.

The African champions had thrashed the Mozambicans 5-1 last Friday at their newly-built Diamniadio Olympic Stadium in Dakar with both Mane and Dia on the score sheet.

Youssouf Sabaly, Iliman Ndiaye and Habib Diallo scored the other goals in the rout.

The success means that Senegal returns to the continent’s premier championship for the fifth successive time and will be making their 18th appearance in Ivory Costa early next year.

They join the hosts Ivory Coast, Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Tunisia, who have already sealed their slots.
