Newly promoted side NEC FC are making huge preparations ahead of their first Uganda Premier League season, which is about three months away.

The Bugolobi based side are reportedly set to appoint Wakiso Giants FC head coach John Luyinda 'Ayala.'

The latter is set to over from Micheal Lukyamuzi, who guided the team from the FUFA Big League at first asking, having accumulated 57 points in 30 games.

Ayala is just a year into his two-year contract with the Purple Sharks, but sources close to both clubs, who preferred anonymity, have confirmed he is set to switch sides.

Wakiso Giants secured the tactician's services at the start of the recently concluded Uganda Premier League campaign, following the exit of Alex Gitta.

Ayala is versed with Ugandan football as he has previously been in backroom staffs at each of Police FC, KCCA FC and champions, Vipers SC.

He has worked with some of the biggest coaches in the country, including Mike Hilary Mutebi and Abdallah Mubiru.

He made a blistering start to life at Wakiso Giants as he occupied top positions on the league table for long spells in the first round of the 2022/23 campaign.

However, the second has been the absolute opposite, as the Sharks eventually finished the season eighth with 36 points.

Ayala has meanwhile, built a young Wakiso team known for their flair with an attacking philosophy.

Along with Maroons FC under Muhammad Ssenfuma, they played some of the most cute-on-the-eye football in the league.
