Major League Soccer outfit New York Red Bulls have moved separate ways with Ugandan midfielder Steven Sserwadda.

The former KCCA FC star has spent about three years in the United States, having left for New York Red Bulls' second-tier side New York Red Bulls 2 in 2021.

Sserwadda's recent past in New York hasn't exactly gone to plan, having sustained injury while with the Uganda Cranes in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March this year.

The 21-year-old was out for two months and returned in May as New York Red Bulls 2 played New York City II, but sidelined again and has been out since.

From then on, Sserwadda has missed a combined 52 games of either New York Red Bulls or New York Red Bulls 2.

It should be noted that Sserwadda's promotion to the senior team came last year in June, and played three times with them.

Sserwadda joined New York Red Bulls 2, having spent two and a half seasons at KCCA.

He leaves compatriots Frank Ssebufu and Ibrahim Kasule as the only Uganda Cranes left in the United States.

Bobosi Byaruhanga, the other Cranes star in the US with Austin II, is set to join his parent club MFK Vyskov in Czech Republic.
