The Purple Sharks found themselves a goal down in just two minutes after Marrons forward Darius Ojok scored early to give the visitors a flying start to the game.

Wakiso Giants FC captain Hassan Ssenyonjo has blamed the team’s 3-0 loss to Maroons on the poor start to the game on Sunday.

The Purple Sharks found themselves a goal down in just two minutes after Maroons forward Darius Ojok scored early to give the visitors a flying start to the game.

“We didn’t have a good start, and it affected us the rest of the game,” Ssenyonjo said after the full-time whistle at Wakisha Grounds.

“An early goal brings pressure, and it was up to us to lift ourselves,” he added.

Ojok’s opener set the pace for the game as Maroons dominated proceedings.

Wakiso Giants found themselves in a spot of bother, with Maroons’ midfield comprising Derrick Ndihabwe and Ronald Orombi limiting any sort of progress for the home side.

Ojok would find his second before halftime after Abraham Tusubira beat Bashir Asiku at the byline to put it on the plate for the emerging forward to finish to complete his brace.

“We will try to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes in the next matches,” Ssenyonjo promised.

“This has shown us where we are, and we shall try to correct the mistakes in the coming matches.”

John Luyinda’s charges nearly found a way back in the 25th minute, but Rahmat Ssenfuka’s effort hit the crossbar after the slightest of touches by goalkeeper Hannington Ssebalunyo.

Maroons went into the halftime break leading 2-0 after absorbing Wakiso’s late charge towards the end of the first half.

Tusubira, who created Ojok’s goals and was eventually named Man of the Match, later got a goal of his own after a mix-up between the Wakiso goalkeeper and his defenders.

The winger found an empty net to make it 3-0 in the 79th minute and compound Wakiso’s misery.

Wakiso will return to action on Saturday when they host Soltilo Bright Stars.
