Yanga became the first East African side to reach the final of the Confederation Cup after eliminating South African side Marumo Gallants 4-1 on aggregate.

Yanga Africans head coach, Nasreddine Nabbi has urged his side to sieze the opportunity and go all the way to win the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup.

Yanga became the first East African side to reach the final of the Confederation Cup after eliminating South African side Marumo Gallants 4-1 on aggregate.

Speaking after their momentous victory, Nabbi shed light on their strategy and heaped praise on his players for their exemplary execution.

"I am very happy to take this team to the final,” he told media, adding “We are the first Tanzanian team to do so, and it is a huge achievement for us. Now, we will try to win this Cup,"

"We understood that Marumo has a very good team, and we didn't want to give them too much space.”

“We made a good tactical plan for the game and also wanted to ensure we didn't concede in the first 25-30 minutes," explained Nabbi.

Yanga headed to South Africa with a 2-0 lead from the first leg and demonstrated their prowess by sealing the victory at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

Laser-sharp marksman Fiston Mayele and Kennedy Musonda scored the crucial goals that propelled Yanga into uncharted territory.

Nabbi singled out Mayele for special praise. Mayele not only scored the opening goal but also provided the assist for the second, securing their 2-1 victory in the return leg in South Africa.

"I am really happy for him and how he is performing. I signed him from AS Vita, and I am glad he has repaid the faith I had in him," commended Nabbi, expressing hope that Mayele would remain with the team, despite the mounting interest from other clubs.

Looking ahead, Yanga aims to make history once again by becoming the first East African team to lift the CAF Confederation Cup.

The final awaits them, where they will face USM Alger.

Nabbi's relentless drive and the outstanding performances of his players have instilled a sense of optimism among fans, who are eagerly anticipating the historic clash.
