Ritah Nimusiima will have to use the long route to defend her Nile Special National Pool Championship after the organisers decided that only the top four seeds will qualify directly for the Nationals.
Nimusiima, who won the 2018 ladies' edition after overcoming Rasheeda Muteesi, is ranked seventh in the Pool Association of Uganda 2023 rankings.

The Nile Special National Pool Championship is returning after a five-year miss.
“That is not an obstacle to me because I know that I'm capable of going through the qualifiers successfully,” Nimusiima told Pulse Sports in an interview.
Tough terrain
About 320 venues in 52 districts will take part in the two-phase qualifiers.
About 128 male players and 32 ladies will qualify for the nationals that will climax on November 11th at Lugogo.

Nimusiima says that she is ready to manoeuvre through the tough terrains and qualify for the finale.
“Many people feel that qualifiers are a bit tricky, but I am ready for them because I’m prepared very well to defend my title. They’ve just changed the criteria, but as a person, my mind was set to play in the qualifiers,” she said.
The competition returned after a five-year break with Nile Special injecting about shs. 340 million into the event.
