The Uganda Rugby Union has unveiled mouthwatering clashes in the promotional plaoffs for the 2026 campaign.

The Uganda Rugby Union has officially announced the 2025 Nile Special Rugby Premiership Promotional Playoffs, confirming that the battle for promotion to Uganda's top-flight rugby league will unfold from May 24 to June 7, 2025.

The high-stakes round-robin clashes will feature four regional champions, each representing the Northern, Central, Western, and Eastern zones, as they fight for a coveted place in the 2026 Premiership season.

The participating teams include Gulu City Falcons, who emerged Northern Region champions after a dominant 31-03 victory over the Lira Bulls.

From the Central Region, Impis are aiming for a return to the Premiership following their relegation in 2024.

Western champions KIU Crowz secured their playoff spot after a commanding 27-00 win against the Fort Portal Tyrants at Ntare Grounds, while Kakira Simbas will represent the Eastern Region following their triumph over Njeru in the regional final.

The playoffs are scheduled to be played across four venues, Bushenyi, Kakira, Gulu, and Makerere, over three weekends.

The opening round on Saturday, May 24, will see KIU Crowz face Impis in Bushenyi and Kakira Simbas take on Gulu City Falcons in Kakira, both matches kicking off at 4:00 PM.

The second week, on May 31, will feature Gulu City Falcons hosting KIU Crowz in Gulu while Impis play Kakira Simbas at Makerere.

The final round on June 7 will see Impis travel to Gulu to meet the Falcons, and the Crowz host the Simbas in Bushenyi.

At the conclusion of the three-week series, the two best-performing teams will earn automatic promotion to the 2026 Nile Special Rugby Premiership, replacing the bottom two teams from the 2025 season.

With everything on the line, the round-robin promotional playoffs promises a spectacle as teams battle for top-flight ticket.
