Super Falcons will focus on perfecting strategies for WAFCON against Cameroon.

The match is a vital tune-up for Nigeria, who are chasing a record-extending 10th African title, while Cameroon are using the game as preparation for their qualifiers and long-term rebuilding efforts.

What Bawou said

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Bawou emphasised the importance of the match for her team.

"We are working on a great project. There are many good prospects ahead of us, and Nigeria is a great opponent to test our progress against," she told Pulse Sports.

Although Cameroon failed to qualify for the WAFCON, Bawou remains optimistic about the Lionesses' future.

"This is a brilliant team. There are many young players now, and we are rebuilding. It's important we put everything together to come back stronger. The future of the Cameroon national team is bright, but we must work very hard," she added.

When asked how this friendly differs from their Olympic qualifier losses to Nigeria, the Bilk goalkeeper reflected on the shared history between the two nations.

"Cameroon and Nigeria are like sisters. Every time we meet, it’s always a high-level game. Both teams always give their best," she said.

On the prediction for Tuesday’s match, the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League finalist didn’t hesitate, "Yes, Cameroon will win. 2-0. I agree with our media officer — we’ll take the victory."

Despite her competitive tone, Bawou extended a gesture of sportsmanship, "I wish Nigeria a good WAFCON campaign. Football is about enjoyment first — but of course, we also want to win and show what we can do."
