2023 Netball World Cup Uganda reacts to She Cranes becoming Africa's finest
Uganda has become the best netballing country in Africa, dethroning South Africa in a tightly contested World Cup affair at the Cape Town International Conventional Center.
The She Cranes edged the Proteas 49-47 on Sunday to rank fifth globally and thus assume topspot on the continent.
The Ugandan faithful, who badly needed the victory just as the players and the coaches, took to social media to shower them in deserving praises.
The She Cranes serve a cold dish revenge to the hosts South Africa to become Number One in Africa. The high flying ladies are now 5th in the World according to rankings. Highest ever finish for Uganda 🇺🇬 That was an absolute photo finish. Congratulations, @shecranes256 & thanks… pic.twitter.com/OdcV7zFzqV

It was an even sweeter victory given the fact that it was against the hosts, who had actually beaten Uganda earlier in the week 52-50.
Put the events that happened back home in the buildup to the world showpiece aside and showed their abilities, including beating the hosts South Africa to the number one position on the continent. Please give the @shecranes256 all their flowers and more 🙏🏿#NWC2023 pic.twitter.com/ZbyEs05O6N

Who knew that we would beat South Africa on home ground? 💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃
This was She Cranes' best finish at a World Cup after making seventh, eighth and 13th in 2019 (England), 2015 (Australia) and 1979 in Trinidad and Tobago.
For God and my country 🇺🇬 what a game and what a world cup! Team Uganda we are proud. Big thanks to the hosts and organizers 🙏
