While Gor Mahia have dominated headlines during the transfer window, notably signing AFC Leopards’ assistant captain Lewis Bandi, other clubs have been quietly strengthening their squads.

Ambani explained that AFC Leopards have also taken a deliberate approach by bringing in young talents in low-key transfers, while confirming the potential overseas moves for Kelly Madada and Hassan Beja.

Speaking during the AFC Leopards international friendly match against New Kings FC, Boniface Ambani noted that he is just awaiting confirmation from the interested parties.

In the match, AFC Leopards won 4-2, with Hassan Beja scoring a brace and an own goal. Ken Owino and new signing Samuel Ssenyonjo also scored.

“Some players should be going out of the club…I should say that we have teams that have developed an interest in Kelly Madada and Hassan Beja, so in case something comes up and the deal materialises in the next two or three weeks, then those are the players who will be leaving the country. So, we had to go look for younger players to replace them,” Boniface Ambani confirmed.

Kelly Madada, a young attacking midfielder, joined AFC Leopards on a long-term contract in February 2024. Despite his young age (he was 18 at the time and was not yet born when the club last won the league), he has shown significant promise.

In a 4-1 win against Tusker, he registered two assists in his first league start, a performance that led fans to demand more playing time for him.

Kelly Madada has constantly expressed a strong desire to help the club end its 26-year league title drought, stating that he wants to be remembered as the player who helped AFC Leopards lift its 13th title.

He has also been a key player for Kenya's U20 national team, the Rising Stars, helping them qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing second in the CECAFA qualifiers.

On his part, Hassan Beja is a speedy left winger who moved to AFC Leopards from Nzoia Sugar FC on a three-year contract.

Last season, he earned a national team call-up and won two Man of the Match awards. Hassan Beja's contributions include his debut goal for AFC Leopards on December 17, 2023. He is also a Kenya U20 international.
