Allan Kayiwa's stint at Express FC: From rising star to Premier League prospect

As Allan Kayiwa embarks on a new chapter in his football career, it's worth reflecting on his performance at Express FC, from where he recently departed.

Kayiwa has just embarked on his first professional journey, signing a two-year contract with Ethiopian Premier League outfit, Shashemene City FC.

This move follows a year-long tenure with the Red Eagles. So, what mark did he leave at the Wankulukuku-based club?

Formerly a forward for Vipers, Kayiwa showcased his prowess by clinching the league's top scorer title last season, netting 13 goals.

In total, he celebrated 15 goals and provided five assists in 23 appearances across various competitions. This notable performance also earned him four league man-of-the-match accolades.

Kayiwa's rise to prominence began in 2019 when he signed a two-year agreement with Vipers SC, transitioning from Tooro United. His roots trace back to 2015, when he climbed the ranks at Soana Young.

During his stint with Vipers, the prolific forward amassed two league titles and a domestic cup. His move to Express FC, fondly known as the Red Eagles, materialized at the outset of the previous season.

In his new adventure with Shashemene City FC, Kayiwa isn't alone in representing Uganda in the Ethiopian top tier. He joins the ranks of Wasswa Geoffrey and Derrick Kakooza, both of whom are with Ethiopia Bunna.

Other Ugandans in the Ethiopian league include Charles Musiige (Diredawa Kenema), Simon Peter (Commercial Bank of Ethiopia), Lukwago Charles (Hawassa Kenema), Keni Saidi (Shashemene City), and Alinzoi Nafian (Machal FC).
