Ashleigh Plumptre captains Al-Ittihad against UE Figueres in Pre-Season Friendly

Super Falcons of Nigeria star Ashleigh Plumptre led Al-Ittihad Ladies to an impressive victory against Spanish side UE Figueres in a pre-season friendly.

Plumptre was in defense for the game held at the Torremirona Sports Center in Girona, Spain.

The match, part of Al-Ittihad's overseas preparation, saw the Saudi club take on UE Figueres, a team from Catalonia

The 26-year-old Nigerian defender, wearing the captain's armband, showcased her leadership as Al-Ittihad secured a hard-fought win.

The pre-season clash in Spain was an important part the team's international training camp ahead of the upcoming Saudi Women's Premier League season.

Plumptre was captain with a notable absence of her compatriot Francisca Ordega who is not part of the pre-season in Spain.

Over the last month, Plumptre has featured in friendly matches against top clubs like Levante, Espanyol, and Girona.

Plumptre was given a massive welcome upon her return to Al-Ittihad, following her heroic contribution to Nigeria's record-extending 10th Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title earlier in 2025

At the WAFCON she was included in the WAFCON 2024 Team of the Group Stage helping to get three clean sheets.
