Barcelona coach rejects Deco striker target, prefers Osimhen type
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has reportedly blocked the move for Karl Etta Eyong, informing sporting director Deco that the 22-year-old was not ready to take on the role of Barcelona's starting striker.
Barcelona's interest
As Pulse Sports reported, Karl Etta Eyong is one of the names the Blaugrana have earmarked as possible replacements for Robert Lewandowski, who is expected to leave the club in the summer.
The 21-year-old has been on a tear in LALIGA this season, with six goals and three assists in 12 matches. This has placed him on the radar of a number of clubs.
The Blaugrana made a late effort in the summer to sign Etta-Eyong, but their wage bill limitations prevented them from acquiring the striker said to be favoured by sporting director Deco.
He was also desired by clubs in the Premier League. However, he opted to join Levante, prioritising game time and his development. In a recent interview, he expressed a desire to join Chelsea in the Premier League.
Flick wants experienced player
According to Fichajes, Hansi Flick wants a ready-made replacement for Robert Lewandowski and has told Deco that Karl Etta-Eyong was not ready to take on the responsibility.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also discussing the prospects of signing Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is believed to fit the ideal desired profile and is also the type of proven quality Flick desires.
