Manchester United’s attempts to beef up their defence in the summer transfer window have taken a massive blow as Bayern Munich enter the race to sign Napoli defender Kim Min Jae.

The Korean defender had been on the radar of the Red Devils, and Manchester United were reportedly set to tempt him away from Napoli with a strong summer bid equal to his release clause value.
His potential move to Manchester United had been boosted when French giants Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of a deal to sign him amid reports that the Napoli defender would choose a move to England over a move to France.
Swapping Napoli for Manchester United appeared confident as the date for his €60 million release clause to become active drew nearer, but a new club has threatened to complicate any deal for the Korean.
Bayern Munich preparing bid for Kim Min Jae
According to reports coming out of Germany, Bayern Munich plan to intercept the Manchester United deal by signing Kim Min Jae when his release clause becomes active between July 1st and July 15th.
The German club could be desperate for a defender this summer, with French centre-backs Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard both looking for new clubs.

The Bundesliga champions have reportedly made an approach to agree on personal terms with Kim Min Jae and could beat Manchester United to his signing.
After an impressive season with Napoli, which saw them win the Serie A title, it is no surprise that Kim Min Jae is attracting interest from some of the best teams in the world.
