Brackcides Agala's promise to female players after being elected KVF Athlete Representative

Former Malkia Strikers captain Brackcides Agala was on Sunday, August 6 elected as the new Athletes Representative (female) of the Kenya Volleyball Federation.

Agala, the Kenya Prisons outside hitter was over the moon after being elected and promised to be a voice of change and support women in volleyball.

In a post on the Malkia Strikers’ Facebook page, the Olympian said: "The honour is immense, and the responsibility is clear. I am excited to be the voice of fellow female athletes, and I'm dedicated to ushering in positive changes with transparency and equality."

Agala was elected unopposed and the whole Malkia Strikers fraternity was also elated to have her as their leader.

They also posted on the page saying: “Celebrating "BLACKIE": A New Voice for Athletes in Kenyan Volleyball. Her legacy as a volleyball legend, Olympian, and a beacon of success in Africa sets the stage for an empowered future. With her commitment to prioritizing players' matters, the horizon is bright for Kenyan volleyball.”

Meanwhile, former national team and Kenya Prisons captain Ibrahim Oduor was also elected as the Athletes' Representative (male).

Oduor was battling it out for the slot alongside Daniel Kiptoo and David Kirwa. Oduor garnered 29 votes while Kiptoo managed to get 17 votes. Kirwa only managed 11 votes.

The KVF National elections are set to be held on August 19 with 13 National Executive Committee slots up for grabs.
