The club announced the signing of the defender Monday afternoon.

“Mission Bolter Defence: Successful. Welcome, Kato Samuel Nemeyimana!” Bright Stars announced on their social media platforms.

Bright Stars are said to have entered the race to sign Nemeyimana after missing out on former Police FC defender Hassan Muhamood, who joined Tanzania’s Geita Gold.

Kato now joins a defence that already has Warren Bbuule, with whom he will look to form a formidable partnership at the back.

Kato’s future became uncertain after his departure from Rwanda’s Bugesera FC, favouring a move back to Uganda.

The defender also came close to joining URA FC, but the move fell through, and that presented Bright Stars with the opportunity to pounce.

He had trained with the Tax Collectors and even played in the club’s friendly against Jinja North.

Bright Stars have already added Shafiq Kakande and former URA talents John Alou Kokus and Steven Mpoza to their ranks this window.

Kato came through the ranks at Budo SS before joining KCCA FC and eventually cementing a place in Mike Mutebi’s side.

He enjoyed success with the Kasasiro Boys, winning the CECAFA Kagame Cup with the club in 2019, in his first season with the Lugogo-based side.

He then left KCCA FC in 2021 to join Bugesera FC in Rwanda.
