Church disgraced

The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (CDP) has fined Grace Church for causing the abandonment of their match day six game against Jinja Lions last weekend.

The said match was abandoned when second-placed Jinja Lions had scored a goal but the referee ended the match on a technicality after the Christians failed to make the minimum composition to continue with the match.

The CDP noted that “Grace Church started the match with three players” but then abandoned shortly into the first half “as a result of Grace Church’s failure to raise the minimum number of players required for the match to proceed”.

“As a consequence of the above conclusions, Grace Church hereby loses the said match by forfeiture. Grace Church is further sanctioned with a fine of UGX 500,000 to be paid to FUFA within two weeks from the receipt of this decision (by 30th March 2023),” the verdict reads.

Rumours have it that Grace Church was involved in a dirty scheme by one of Jinja Lions’ opponents to prevent them from scoring many goals to give them an advantage.

Jinja Lions sit second on the table with 15 points, three behind St. Lawrence and the same as Mutoola but higher because of their better goal count.
