Busoga United's captain, Charles Sunday Mulanda, has been handed a 12-game suspension by FUFA for head-butting the referee Gerald Tumusiime.

This incident occurred during his team's 1-0 loss to Gaddafi FC at the Gaddafi Arena on Tuesday, October 24.

With five games already played in the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League campaign, Mulanda will miss the remaining ten matches of the first round. He is expected to make his comeback on match day 17 during the second round of fixtures.

Interestingly, Mulanda's return will take place in the second leg of the game between Busoga and Gaddafi at Kakindu Stadium.

In addition to the suspension, the player has been fined 500,000/=, which is to be paid immediately.

Busoga United are currently eighth on the 16-team UPL table, having accumulated seven points from two wins, one draw, and two losses.

The team will commence their period without their skipper at home against UPDF FC on Wednesday, November 1.
