Consequently, their bond remained strong, making Onyango's emotional farewell to Micho, following his dismissal on Thursday, a predictable occurrence.

"On 04/09/2016, your immense contribution to Ugandan football will forever be etched in our memories, Coach Micho," expressed Onyango, sharing his sentiments on his social media platforms.

"In my football career, you have been like a father figure to me. Wishing you all the best, Coach," concluded the Mamelodi Sundowns star.

Following Onyango's retirement from the Uganda Cranes in 2021, Micho praised him as "one of the finest" individuals he had ever worked with.

Meanwhile, Micho had been serving his second term as the head coach for the past two years. However, following an unsuccessful campaign to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, his departure became inevitable.

Numerous other Uganda Cranes stars, including Allan Okello, Mustafa Kizza, Khalid Aucho, and Steven Sserwadda, among others, have also bid their farewells.
