Discipline will be key in Kitgum, says Heathens assistant captain
After falling to a last-gasp Faraji Odugo try in the Stone City Sevens semifinals last weekend, Platinum Credit Heathens will be out to make amends this weekend.
The Nile Special National Sevens Series will be heading to Kitgum, and bouncing back will be top on the agenda for the Yellow Machine.
Assistant captain Steven Kalema has pointed out indiscipline as one of the primary reasons for the team’s third-placed finish in round one.
“The boys are still in good moods and hungry for the next circuit,” Kalema said while speaking to the club media.
“We were beaten in the semifinal by Kobs, especially because of many yellow cards and this circuit, we are aiming to work on our indiscipline,” he added.
Heathens scored through Aaron Ofoyrwoth and Nobert Okeny and looked to be on their way to the finals until a brilliant individual effort by Odugo tore the script to send Kobs to the finals with a 15-12 victory.
“We are heading to Kitgum expecting to reach the final and obviously win the final. That’s our main aim,” Kalema noted.
Heathens defeated Impis in the third-place game to collect 17 points from the first circuit of the season.
With six more rounds to come, Muhammad Athiyo’s charges will be hoping to garner maximum points, starting with the weekend action up North.
