East African schools' powerhouse St. Mary's Secondary School, Kitende (SMASK), got their CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools Championship to a winning start.

In their first game, the Ugandan representatives thrashed Team Somalia 3-0 at the Kasarani Stadium earlier on Monday.

Youngster Disan Mwebe bagged a second-half brace plus an own-goal from Somalis to have Kitende to a start of dreams.

Kitende's dominance was much more evident in the second half as they came back blazing, having endured a goalless opening half.

In their second game of the day, Kitende comfortably beat Burundi 2-0, to make it successive victories and clean-sheets.

It should be noted that the CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools Championship entails U15 boys and girls.

Meanwhile, Kitende is keen on emulating Uganda's Royal Giants High School, who are the competition's (boys) defending champions.

In the girls' category, Uganda's representative Kawempe Muslim SS drew 0-0 with Tanzania's Alliance High School in their opening bout.
