His heartfelt message, shared on Instagram, expressed regret over the situation while asking for the supporters’ understanding amid a difficult chapter.

Lookman referred to the fans as “the heartbeat of this club” and emphasised the special bond they share.

Ademola Lookman says Atalanta have failed to keep to their promise amid poor treatment from the club.

“I hope you can understand this incredibly difficult situation. It’s simply about standing up for what I believe is fair and right. The support you have always given me has been incredible, and the bond we have created together is special,” he wrote.

The 27-year-old Nigerian signalled his willingness to work with Atalanta towards an amicable solution, hoping for a resolution that benefits all parties.

This development comes after a protracted transfer saga in which Italian giants Inter Milan have reportedly offered approximately €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons for Lookman.

Despite the offer aligning with prior discussions and what Lookman believed was acceptable, Atalanta has rejected the bid, holding out for a higher fee close to €50 million.

Lookman scored 15 goals in the Serie A and 5 in the UCL last season.

Lookman’s absence from recent team activities, including the friendly against RB Leipzig, fueled speculation about his imminent departure, and his formal transfer request publicly stresses escalating tensions between the player and Atalanta’s management.

His emotional message and plea for understanding add pressure on the club to find common ground soon.

Lookman’s statement reflects his deep connection to Atalanta, recalling memorable moments like winning the Europa League and the pride he felt representing the club and city.

However, after months of what he described as broken promises and poor treatment, he concluded that moving on is the right step for his career.

The next steps in this saga will be closely watched by fans and observers, as Lookman seeks to complete a move that has been a point of contention for several months.
