The Swiss went in front through Dan Ndoye’s first international strike before the half-hour mark and it stayed that way until Niclas Fullkrug netted a late headed equaliser to prevent Julian Nagelsmann’s men from ending second in their section.

Regardless of the goal conceded on Sunday night, Neuer made history in Frankfurt.

Neuer’s Euros feat

By starting against Switzerland, the Bayern Munich shot-stopper played for the 18th time at the European Championship, moving clear of Gianluigi Buffon (17) and the pair of Edwin van der Sar and Rui Patricio (both 16).

What comes next?

Ending atop Group A means Germany will face the Group C runners-up — Denmark as it stands — in the first knockout round. Neuer should feature for the 19th time in the three-time Euro winners’ last-16 tie.
