EURO 2024: Palmer to start? Possible England lineup for Serbia clash

England take on Serbia in their group opener, and Southgate has several selection issues to address.

John Stones is back in training after a virus and will be expected to line up alongside Marc Guehi in central defence, in front of Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford.

Luke Shaw's injury means Kieran Trippier will start at left-back, with Kyle Walker taking up the right-back spot for the Three Lions at EURO 2024.

The real question mark lies in midfield. Declan Rice is guaranteed to start as the protector of the back four, but the Arsenal man cant do it all alone.

Chelsea's Conor Gallagher is expected to beat out Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold for a place alongside Rice, and the Blues midfielder could provide the required energy and defensive presence at the heart of Southgate's midfield.

In the forward positions, we expect Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka to line up behind Harry Kane, with Chelsea's Cole Palmer just missing out.
