Following their victory against Italy in extra time, the defending champions booked their ticket for the Women's Euros finals against world champions Spain.

England and Spain have an interesting history in major tournaments. Sarina Wiegman's side were triumphant the last time both sides faced each other at the Euros, knocking out Spain in the quarter-finals en route to winning the competition. One year later at the World Cup, Spain’s women got their revenge, beating England in the final to win their first title in the competition.

They lock horns on Sunday in another final, and Spain are considered favourites for this tie.

What Walsh said

Walsh played with many of the current Spanish team during her three-year stint at Barcelona; hence, she is primed to understand their quality. The former Manchester City midfielder explained that it was tough to man-mark the Spanish women, as they have multiple players who could deal damage.

Aitana Bonmati scored the winning goal as Spain defeated Germany to book a Euro 2025 final against England.

"I’ve been asked several times in the last few years about them. They are incredible footballers,” she told reporters.

"The Spanish are one of the best possession teams in the world. Aitana’s an incredible player, but if you try to nullify her, Patri’s been one of the best players at this tournament. So you can focus on Aitana; then you’ve got Patri, Alexia and Mariona [Caldentey]."
