The men’s team announced comprised defending champion Eliud Kipchoge, Tokyo Marathon champion Benson Kipruto, and former Prague Marathon champion Alexander Munyao.

Others who have been included in the team are Timothy Kiplagat, the 2022 Abu Dhabi Marathon champion, and Vincent Ngetich, the man who traumatized Eliud Kipchoge at the 2023 Berlin Marathon.

However, questions have been raised on why two-time Boston Marathon Evans Chebet is missing in the team yet he has accomplished a lot and would be a sure bet of bagging a medal.

Chris Chavez, took to his X (Twitter) to express his surprise that Chebet was missing from the team. In a post, he said: “Still can not believe Evans Chebet is NOT part of this list. He is the 2022 + 2023 Boston Marathon champion and the 2022 New York City Marathon champion. He might be the best marathoner in the world.”

Another user, Briane Lee, commented saying: “Anyone thinks Nike is involved in denying Chebet (Adidas) so Kipchoge has a shot at three?”

One of the users also commented saying: “Chebet has been absolutely stiffed here. Won six of his last 7 marathons, just doesn’t stack up!”
