Mudryk was introduced as a 71st minute substitute, his first appearance against Arsenal since opting to join Chelsea over the North Londoners in an 88.7 million pound January move.

The Ukrainian international was booed by the home crowd following his introduction and had a green light flashed on his face as he was playing.

A Metropolitan police statement read: A 21-year-old man was arrested at the Emirates Stadium during the Arsenal vs Chelsea match on 2 May on suspicion of a public order offense. He has been taken into custody.``

The FA are also looking into the incident.

An Arsenal spokesperson said: An arrest has been made following the use of a laser during last night’s match. This behavior is dangerous and totally unacceptable and we will fully support the police with their enquiries and take action as appropriate.”

During Euro 2020, the FA was fined €30,000 (£25,630) by UEFA after a laser pointer was directed at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel during England’s semi-final win at Wembley.

Mudryk has moved to play down the incident after Chelsea’s defeat as he posted an image of himself being targeted by the laser with the caption ‘it’s ok’ and an emoji of two hands making the shape of a heart.
