FIFA expands number of teams at U-20 Women’s World Cup
The world soccer governing body, FIFA has increased the number of teams for the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The U-20 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Colombia and slated for August 31–September 22, 2024.
According to FIFA, "It was also confirmed that the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024™ will be enlarged from 16 to 24 teams and take place from 31 August to 22 September 2024. The approved slot allocation will be as follows: AFC: 4; CAF: 4; Concacaf: 4; CONMEBOL: 4; OFC: 2; UEFA: 5; host country (Colombia): 1."
FIFA also confirmed that the date for the U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024.
"The FIFA Council also confirmed that the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024™ will take place from 16 October to 3 November 2024 and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025™ from 1 to 11 May 2025."
The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup is an international association football competition for women's national teams under the age of 20.
It was first held in 2002 with Spain being the defending the champions.
