FKF launches probe into match-fixing allegations involving Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has launched a probe into match-fixing allegations surrounding Kenyan goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.

Matasi has previously faced match manipulation allegations following shaky performances while playing for both clubs and country.

The former Kenya Police shot-stopper however recently made the news when a video surfaced, implicating him on those allegations.

As previously reported by Pulse Sports the unsourced video allegedly catches Matasi in the act.

Following the uproar, FKF has taken swift action to investigate the allegations, promising stern punishment based on the findings.

“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is aware of videos circulating online involving goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, raising concerns about possible match manipulation,” read part of the communication from FKF seen by Pulse Sports, dated March 27, 2025.

 “FKF upholds the integrity of football and has launched an official  investigation in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant  authorities,” it continued.

“This investigation will adhere to FKF’s Anti-Match Manipulation  Regulations and FIFA guidelines, ensuring a fair, transparent, and thorough  process. The rights of the player and his club will be respected, and  appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.”

Matasi most recent appearance for Harambee Stars was a 4-1 thumping at the hands of Cameroon in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in October 2024.

His performance in that fixture was woeful, raising questions into his selection by then-coach Engin Firat.

He has not featured for the Harambee Stars since, linking back with Kenya Police for his league campaign before joining Kakamega Homeboyz during the January transfer window.
