Former Vipers defender close to joining Villa

South Sudan international Joseph Dhata Lujang is moments away from joining Uganda Premier League record holders SC Villa.

According to Swift Sports, the right-back, who can also trade as a central defender, will put pen to paper on a three-year employment contract with the Jogoo.

It has been reported the former Vipers SC player is currently training with Villa at East High Ntinda and that personal terms have been agreed.

Dhata spent the preceding campaign at Express FC following his departure from Vipers in the 2021/22 season.

Meanwhile, it's a massive loss for Express, who have already lost two key players, including top scorer Allan Kayiwa and winger Joseph Akandwanaho.

Dhata will be a significant addition for Villa as they look for quality and numbers in defence following the departure of skipper Gift Fred.
