FUFA warn UBC against advertising or airing Uganda Cranes-Tanzania match

FUFA has sent a stern warning to the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) to stop advertising the televising of the 2023 AFCON qualifier between Uganda Cranes and Tanzania.

Uganda Cranes host Tanzania from Egypt on Friday 28th March at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.

FUFA, through their lawyer Ochieng Associated Advocates and Solicitors, has accused UBC of illegally advertising that they have broadcasting rights to the game.

In the notice to UBC, FUFA claimed that UBC’s action "devalues the rights and causes financial loss" to them.

FUFA reminded the national broadcaster that they are the exclusive owners of the broadcasting rights of the Uganda Cranes within the country.

They warned them to "desist from advertising the broadcasting of the Uganda Cranes match in a manner intended to mislead the public that UBC attained the broadcasting rights" of the match.

Legal proceedings

The federation has threatened to take legal action against the broadcaster should they continue to advertise the game, and will sue UBC for damages and loss of income caused by UBC's "opportunistic adverts."

The letter concluded by stating that UBC must comply with the warning with immediate effect and that no further warning will be given.
