Fumador Asiwome: Vipers' hattrick hero out for weeks

Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed their forward Fumador Asiwome is set for a spell on the sidelines through injury.

The Ghanaian sustained a calf injury in his side's 4-1 victory over NEC FC on Wednesday and was subsequently withdrawn in the 80th minute.

At the time of his withdrawal, the 28-year-old had netted a hattrick that sunk NEC at the St Mary's Stadium Kitende.

The Venoms have confirmed the developments in the lead to their Sunday game against Busoga United.

"The Ghanaian has since received further assessments, and a subsequent scan has shown a strain to his calf," the club said in a statement.

"We will continue to assess Fumador in the coming weeks, during which time he will also receive further treatment."

Fumador joined the Vipers in the summer transfer window and has been limited due to recurring injuries.

He has scored three goals in five Uganda Premier League games for Vipers this season.
