Gor Mahia Set Tough Qualification Conditions for Next Coach as Application Process is Opened
Gor Mahia have already begun the search for a new head coach but whoever gets the job must be highly qualified.
K’Ogalo sacked their entire technical bench on Wednesday in a bid to bring back their lost glory following a second-place finish in the league and the FKF Cup final loss to Nairobi United.
The club has moved with speed to open applications for the new coach but with some high demands in terms of qualifications.

As per a statement from Gor Mahia, the new coach must have a CAF A Pro License or a UEFA Pro License, a minimum of eight years of experience as head coach in a top tier club or national team, a proven track record of winning league titles, cups or continental crowns.

Further, the coach must have; strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage high-performance athletes under pressure and inspire a culture if excellence and adequate understanding of modern football trends, tactics, sports science and data analysis.
“Experience working in African football leagues or competitions, multilingual ability (English preferred) and good with youth players,” Gor Mahia said regarding the other qualities that would be an added advantage to the new coach.
The interested candidates have up to Monday July 10 to submit their applications with Gor Mahia looking to complete the process early in readiness for the new season.
Since the departure of two-time FKF Premier League winner Johnathan McKinstry in June 2024, Gor Mahia have gone through Brazilian Leo Neiva, Croatian Sinisa Mihic and Zedikiah ‘Zico’ Otieno but their struggles did not stop in 2024-25.
