The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) earlier this month announced the former Venezuela and Porto boss as the permanent coach.

With the appointment, Peseiro replaces  interim boss, Augustine Eguavoen, who was in charge of the Super Eagles at the infamous AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.

Almost two weeks after the Portuguese manager and the NFF put pen to paper, the 55-year-old has finally reacted to his appointment.

"Pride! It is with great pride and joy that I am the coach of one of the greatest football nations in the world," Peseiro posted on his Twitter account.

"Commanding the Super Eagles starts with knowing how to respect history, value it and be inspired by its roots. "

"Over 200 million Nigerians, from all states and ethnicities, want the same thing: success. We will work with great ambition, so that in the end we can finally call Nigeria the "four-time African champions."
