According to the Athletic, The 27-year-old's agent also waived his commission to help complete the deal, and the striker is expected to sign a contract until June 2030.

Arsenal have been desperate to add a high-level striker for more than two seasons, and will be pleased to have finally struck an agreement to bring in one of the best forwards in Europe.

Gyokeres scored 54 goals for Sporting last season and was tracked by numerous clubs across Europe.

Arsenal have been aggressive in the market, signing Midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard from Real Sociedad and Brentford, respectively, while goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and winger Noni Madueke have arrived from Chelsea.
