Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has caused an uproar on social media after he was told to pick his greatest African player.

Toure, during his playing days, had an incredible career for both club and country, winning several trophies.

The midfielder led Man City to three Premier League titles and helped Ivory Coast win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

His performance also earned him four African Player of the Year Awards in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Toure picks greatest African player ever

In a video interview shared by Goal on X, Toure was seen doing a game named “Picks between iconic African ballers.”

In the video, the questioner asked him to pick between Didier Drogba and Sadio Mane, Samuel Etoo and George Weah, Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez, Jay Jay Okocha and Yaya Tore.

The Ivorian legend then selected Drogba, Weah, Salah, and Okocha in his first selection. When asked to choose between Drogba, Weah, Salah, and Okocha, he selected Drogba and Salah.

In the final round, he chose Drogba as the best African player, although he said it was a tough call to make.

He also claimed that "people are being unfair at some point, but I think he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or as well."

Drogba had a stellar career at Chelsea, winning the EPL, UEFA Champions League and other trophies. He also won the CAF POTY twice in 2006 and 2009.
