He is not ready — Maresca gives Chelsea injury update ahead of Brentford clash
Enzo Maresca has provided an injury update on Cole Palmer ahead of his side's match against Brentford, revealing the player has not yet returned to full training.
Palmer limped off during the pre-match warm-up ahead of the 5-1 win against West Ham and was also sidelined for the 2-0 victory against Fulham before the international break.
Maresca provided an update on the player's status, stating: "Cole took part in the session yesterday for the first time. Not the entire session.
"We have one more session, we are going to try with him. We will see if it is okay. Otherwise, he will be out again tomorrow. He is recovering from an injury. It is not managing him, it is recovery."
Maresca also confirmed that striker Liam Delap will be ruled out for up to 12 weeks with a hamstring injury he picked up against Fulham.
Additionally, new signing Alejandro Garnacho is not fully fit after his move from Manchester United.
"Liam is around 10 to 12 weeks. Long way to go!" the manager said.
Regarding Garnacho, Maresca added: "He is working well. For sure, he needs to work. He arrived not 100 per cent fit. He needs to work and is working well. We will see. Hopefully, soon we can give him minutes."
