Hooray! Nkumba University master victory over UCU to secure first-ever title

Nkumba University secured their maiden Pepsi University Football League trophy after taming former champions Uganda Christian University (UCU).

The Entebbe-based university defeated the Mukono-based outfit 3-1 in the final played at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

A first-half blitz from Nkumba had them score thrice, with the goals enough to glide them to the championship.

Kennedy Ssebaduka, Ismael Lubega and Isaac Musuga were the day's heroes in the well attended final.

On the other hand, Sharif Ssewanyana netted UCU's consolation in the second half, but it was too late.

Meanwhile, UCU's goalkeeper John Collins Wesonga was given matching orders in the 22nd minute, having handled the ball outside the box.

Like Nkumba University, UCU have also won the Pepsi University Football League on a single occasion which came in 2019.
