Despite the winger’s talent and potential, a section of the fanbase remains unconvinced, fuelled by frustration over Arsenal’s growing trend of signing former Chelsea players.

Madueke is the latest name on the list of players swapping Stamford Bridge for north London. The 23-year-old winger is expected to sign a five-year deal with Arsenal after completing his medical, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Having helped Chelsea reach the Champions League and win the Europa Conference League last season, Madueke brings both European experience and flair.

However, his role at Chelsea had become increasingly uncertain following the arrivals of Joao Pedro, Estevao, and Jamie Gittens, forcing him to consider options elsewhere.

Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, moved quickly to secure his signature, adding him to a summer haul that already includes Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Kepa Arrizabalaga. On paper, the rebuild looks strong, but on social media, the mood is anything but celebratory.

One particularly stinging post read, “I must never allow my kids become Arsenal fans. Let the suffering end with me.”

Others called the club’s transfer strategy lazy and uninspired, with comments like, “Chelsea has scammed another top club” and “Signings should bring happiness; this one brings heartache!! There must be a secret between Arsenal and Chelsea we don’t know yet!”

The sentiment among critics is that Arsenal’s identity is slipping, and with every new transfer from a London rival, the pressure on Arsenal’s recruitment department only grows.
